___ Call your local waste management service and order a dumpster.

___ Before disposing, shred personal and important documents.
___ Consider having a garage sale.

8 weeks before you move…

___ Start to prepare your mailing list of people who need your change of address.
___ Notify banks, savings accounts, credit cards, magazines, any other organizations.

6 weeks before you move…

___ Call Magic Moving & Storage, Inc and reserve your move date.
___ Separate favorite toys.
___ Make sure your pet’s vaccinations are up to date.
___ Arrange for mail to be forwarded. Send out “Change of Address” Forms.
___ Advise carrier if you purchased any new household goods.
___ Return library books.

4 weeks before you move…

___ Decide which clothes travel with you.
___ Start to dismantle outdoor play equipment.
___ Start to make list of items to take with you (documents, medical records, etc.).
___ Connect utilities and services (cable, telephone, etc.) at your new home.
___ Cancel newspapers, subscriptions.
___ Find new homes for your plants.

7 days before you move…

___ Deplete the food from your refrigerator/freezer.
___ Plan simple meals for moving day to avoid using appliances
___ Paper plates and plastic utensils
___ Separate luggage items you need for personal travel.
___ Clean garden tools, bicycles and any other gardening equipment.
___ Empty the tanks of power tools such as mowers.
___ Medication for at least 2 weeks, and copies of any prescriptions for use at destination.
___ Obtain travelers checks.
___ Arrange for someone to look after the children and/or pets on moving day.

Moving day…

___ Allow your self time for a good breakfast.
___ When driver arrives, point our any items of special concern and high valued items.
___ Set personal items and luggage in a secure area to be taken with you.
___ Do a final check of all closets and storage areas before driver leaves residence.
___ Confirm contact numbers and addresses with driver.
